Gentlemen,

Thank you for discussing the ideas for a name and logo for the group last night. For those who couldn’t attend last night, all the content presented is below. The group decided to prayerfully reflect on this option for a name and the two logo concepts for discussion next week.

Important note: we are picking a logo concept, not one specific variation of those concepts. There are two major concepts presented: the Keys Logo and the Carving Man Logo. Once one of the concepts is selected, we can work on fine-tuning variations of it for a logo. Please let me know if you have questions about this.

Thanks,
Aaron

Suggested Name: St. Peter’s Rock

Tagline: Become the leader God calls you to be

The image of a rock is an aspirational symbol for who we want to become as men: foundational, steadfast against outside forces, dependable. With St. Peter being named by Christ as the rock, and being the namesake of our church, the symbolism of a rock has a direct tie to our church, the Church, and Christ. There are more layers which I’ve written out in The Meaning of the Name.

Logo Concepts

As mentioned above, the initial aim is to pick a concept. The fine details and variations of that concept can be worked out later.

Logo Concept #1 — The Keys Logo

This logo takes the suggested name and turns it into a literal logo. It depicts the rock, Christ is represented with the cross, and the keys are symbolic of St. Peter as well as the Vatican. The gold key represents spiritual authority and the silver key represents earthly authority.

Logo Concept #2 — The Carving Man Logo

The base of the Carving Man logo is the rock, with the cross in the center of it. This symbolizes both the foundation of the group being Christ and the Church, as well as the aspirational symbolism of the rock metaphor for men. The man carving himself from the rock represents a life founded on Christ and the work each man must undertake to shape himself. Each piece of stone removed symbolizes the effort and sacrifice required to grow spiritually, mentally, and physically, revealing the gifts and potential God has placed within him.

Inspirational Posters

I put together these posters as a way to frame what the group stands for and who the group is trying to reach, based on the conversations in recent meetings. They are an attempt to solidify those discussions into words and images that invoke feelings and could potentially represent what the group is about: helping men face the hard path and do the hard work and step into their purpose to serve as loving leaders, husbands, and fathers, through God’s will.

Example Church Bulletin and Handout

These are examples of what could be used as a handout for recruitment and put into the church bulletin. The inspirational poster examples would be expensive to print and are better seen on a computer. These are more suitable for physical printing.
